Symbiosis of nature and design

In the south of Norway, one and a half hours from Kristiansand, Christian Wirth has fulfilled a lifelong dream: a house in Norway. At an altitude of 700 metres, the modern building, built in timber frame construction, rises in front of the imposing countryside of the Telemark ski area. There is snow here for four months of the year, and in summer the landscape invites you to go hiking, fishing and mushroom picking.

The combination makes it

"I fell in love with the country, its nature and the people here," says Christian Wirth. In December 2020, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, the IT entrepreneur made the decision to make his long-standing wish come true and build a house in Norway. After that, everything went quickly: construction began in April of the following year, and the house was completed in February 2022. The combination of typical Nordic elements, contemporary design and close-to-nature construction with wood nestles perfectly in the mountains of Telemark.

The high ceilings inside lend height and lightness to the spacious living-dining area. Floor-to-ceiling windows in a large glass front provide a view of the mountains and additionally emphasise the openness of the space. Light wood, modern furniture in beige and selected accessories provide cosiness and Nordic flair.

"When choosing the flooring, it was important to me that the flooring is robust, easy to maintain and copes well with water. With the large amounts of snow that fall here every year, this is essential," says the Frankfurt-born man. At the same time, the flooring should match the natural atmosphere of the house, radiating warmth and tranquillity. So the choice fell on the light "Oak Nordic beige" decor in a contemporary untreated wood look.
